How To Read An Ingredient List

Ingredients are listed by weight, in descending order, until you reach one per cent — after which they can be listed in any order at all. That single rule explains most of the confusion on a label.

It means an ingredient named on the front of the bottle can legitimately appear near the end of the list at a fraction of a per cent. Nothing has been falsified. The list simply stopped being ordered.

For an oil, this is easier to read than for most categories: there is no water, so what you see is close to what you get. Look at the first three. If the thing the label is selling you isn't among them, ask why.
